Vivid has partnered with Adyen to offer instant card payment payouts to EU small businesses, aiming to reduce settlement delays and improve cash flow.
Following this partnership, small businesses across the European Union can now access their card revenues immediately. In essence, the solution enables small and micro businesses to accept card payments online and at point-of-sale, with funds becoming available as soon as the customer initiates a payout request.
The offering is designed to tackle a persistent issue among European SMBs: delayed access to revenue. A significant portion of these businesses still face payment settlement times of several hours to multiple days, affecting their ability to manage cash flow. According to Visa, around 34% of micro and small merchants in Europe do not accept card payments, often due to high costs and complex onboarding. For those who do, approximately 35% still experience delays in accessing their funds.
Despite these challenges, digital payments continue to show tangible benefits for small enterprises. Businesses that accept card payments frequently report higher average transaction values, and over 40% note increased turnover, ranging from 6% to 15%, following the adoption of card payment options.
New payment tools and faster settlement
The joint Vivid-Adyen service includes several features aimed at simplifying payment acceptance: integrated invoice payment links, ‘Pay by Link’ for remote transactions via email or messaging apps, and plug-ins for e-commerce platforms such as WooCommerce and Wix. The service supports multiple payment methods, including Apple Pay and Google Pay.
An important differentiator cited by Vivid officials is the immediacy of payouts. Additionally, the pricing model is structured to eliminate subscription fees for card acceptance, with access to competitive rates even for users on the platform’s free tier.
Representatives from Vivid described the new solution as a way to make enterprise-level payment infrastructure accessible to smaller businesses, whether they are sole traders or scaling SMBs. Adyen officials highlighted that their platform model allows partners like Vivid to provide seamless omnichannel payment capabilities while addressing cash flow bottlenecks common among small firms.
