Ingenico has secured a EUR 150 million investment from a PIMCO-led group of investors to reset its capital structure.
The company said the funds would be directed towards product development and operational initiatives across its business.
A company representative said the new capital would support efforts to simplify payment operations and expand investment in product development, alongside improvements to the company's balance sheet.
Product portfolio and platform capabilities
Ingenico's product line includes the AXIUM family of Android-based payment devices, aimed at retailers, banks, acquirers, and fintech companies. The devices are built on a shared architecture and are designed to support security and durability requirements, along with the ability to receive Android version upgrades after deployment in the field.
The company also operates Ingenico 360, a cloud-based platform that combines device management, transaction services, applications, and analytics within a single system. In addition, Ingenico provides a Developer Journey programme, which gives partners and independent software vendors (ISVs) access to application programming interfaces (APIs), development tools, and documentation intended to support the building, certification, and launch of new services.
Part of the new capital will be allocated to Ingenico's Customer Excellence team, which the company said is being expanded through new locations in London (UK), San Francisco (US), and Istanbul (Turkey). The expansion is intended to bring account managers, solutions engineers, and customer support managers into closer proximity with customers and partners in these markets.
Market context
According to the official press release, the transaction adds to a series of capital-related developments in the payment acceptance and point-of-sale technology sector, where providers have continued to invest in cloud-based infrastructure and Android-based hardware to support retailers, financial institutions, and fintech partners. Ingenico's announcement did not include specific timelines for the rollout of new products or the completion of the office expansions referenced in the statement.
