UPS and American Express have expanded their partnership to provide additional support to small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs).
The main focus of the partnership is to blend shipping solutions and payment services ahead of the holiday season. The initiative, announced at the annual UPS Impact Summit, introduces new discounts and benefits accessible through American Express’ Business Savings Suite.
The initial offers cover UPS air, ground, and international shipping, with savings designed to increase for businesses that ship larger volumes. American Express small business card members will also be able to view eligible offers on the Amex Offers page, and both companies have indicated that additional incentives will be rolled out over the coming months.
A focus on operational pressures
Representatives from UPS stated that the agreement reflects ongoing investments in services relevant to SMBs, including flexible returns and seamless integration with UPS’ logistics network. They noted that combining shipping expertise with payment solutions can provide merchants with practical tools to manage increased volumes and operational complexity during peak trading periods.
Officials from American Express highlighted that smaller businesses frequently rely on credit cards to manage cash flow, purchase inventory, and meet spikes in demand, particularly during the holiday season. They explained that aligning financial tools with shipping discounts is intended to reduce logistical and financial strain on merchants during critical sales periods.
The partnership illustrates a growing trend of coordination between logistics and payment providers to support business customers. While the initial rollout focuses on shipping savings via the American Express platform, both companies said the collaboration would expand in the coming months, potentially including further integrated offers that combine delivery and financing options for small businesses.
