Online marketplace Temu has announced the rollout of an app specifically designed to enable Shopify merchants to list and manage products from their Shopify accounts.
Currently available on the Shopify App Store, the product provides merchants with access to Temu’s Local Seller Program in over 30 markets where it operates, including the US, Canada, the UK, Germany, Spain, and Australia.
Utilising the app will allow Shopify merchants to manage product listings, inventory, and fulfilment in a single place. This is set to create additional sales opportunities in Temu’s global network of local marketplaces.
Features, availability, and more
Initially launched in 2024, Temu’s Local Seller Program focuses on enabling local businesses to sell and fulfil orders within their own markets, optimising delivery efficiency and expanding product variety for local shoppers. Since then, more and more businesses across product categories have started leveraging the app, using it to diversify sales, expand into new markets, and grow their customer base.
At the time of writing, Temu’s Local Seller Program was available in the US, Mexico, the UK, Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Belgium, Austria, Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Sweden, Japan, Republic of Korea, Canada, Australia, Portugal, Turkey, Greece, Denmark, Finland, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ireland, Lithuania, Croatia, Brazil, Estonia, Switzerland, the UAE Latvia, Cyprus, and Norway.
Through the app, Shopify merchants can tap into Temu’s user base without needing to develop separate infrastructure for each market. Additionally, by syncing a Shopify merchant’s product catalogue with Temu’s platform, the business can list products efficiently in over 30 markets in Temu’s Local Seller Program. This focuses on minimising operational costs and decreasing complexity.
Furthermore, benefitting from low onboarding costs and access to a substantial user base, merchants can list products in over 600 categories. Talking about the move, a Temu spokesperson said that the app comes as part of the online marketplace’s effort to mitigate barriers and bring growth opportunities to businesses across the globe while also facilitating convenience and choice for shoppers.
