Bluefin and Visa Acceptance Solutions have introduced a joint card-present payment acceptance offering for enterprise merchants.
According to the official press release, the offering is aimed at merchants, software providers, and enterprise organisations seeking a single integrated approach to secure in-person payment acceptance.
The collaboration brings together payment acceptance, PCI-validated security, tokenisation, device lifecycle management, and enterprise payment infrastructure within one solution. Bluefin contributes its PCI-validated P2PE solution, secure decryption services, a certified payment application, terminal integration, and its P2PE Manager device management tool. In addition, Visa Acceptance Solutions provides payment processing, tokenisation, and global payment services through what the companies describe as a unified architecture.
The offering has launched with selected certified Ingenico Lane series devices. According to the companies, the architecture is designed to allow expansion to additional certified device ecosystems over time. Target sectors for deployment include retail, hospitality, petroleum, healthcare, and higher education, alongside other enterprise environments.
Organisations adopting the offering are expected to benefit from simplified deployment, centralised device management, and access to developer APIs and SDKs. Bluefin's PCI-validated P2PE solution is also positioned to reduce the scope of PCI compliance obligations for adopting merchants, since encrypted card data is not exposed to the merchant's systems in an unencrypted state.
Rationale and market context
Ruston Miles, Founder and Chief Strategy Officer of Bluefin, said enterprise organisations are increasingly seeking integrated infrastructure for secure commerce across channels, rather than assembling individual payment technologies separately. It was also added that the collaboration with Visa Acceptance Solutions reflects a shared view that secure payment acceptance should be delivered as an integrated platform rather than a collection of independent components, with the aim of helping organisations reduce deployment complexity.
Through the process of consolidating payment acceptance, PCI-validated P2PE, tokenisation, device management, and payment processing into a single offering, the two companies state that organisations will be able to deploy secure in-person payment acceptance without integrating multiple payment, security, and device management technologies independently.
The offering is being made available to merchants and software providers through Visa Acceptance Solutions and Visa's global sales and partner channels. This distribution route is intended to give organisations a more direct path to deploying card-present acceptance infrastructure at an enterprise scale.
The announcement adds to a broader trend in the payments industry towards consolidated acceptance infrastructure, as merchants and software providers increasingly look to reduce the number of separate vendors involved in securing and processing in-person card transactions.
