Thursday 12 October 2023 13:25 CET | News

European cloud-based neobank Viva.com has received an E-Money Institution authorisation for its UK subsidiary Vivawallet.com from the Financial Conduct Authority.

Following this announcement, the UK’s subsidiary of Viva.com, Vivawallet.com, will be given the possibility to improve and extend its suite of secure, regulated, and reliable payment solutions. At the same time, the institution will continue its commitment to meet the standards and requirements of the UK regulatory framework.

The E-Money Institution licence represents an important step for Viva.com, as the company is set to continue its expansion strategy in the UK. Furthermore, the neobank will be enabled to offer its full range of products and services to UK businesses and merchants, improving their payment experience by leveraging its proprietary technology. In addition, Viva.com will focus on designing a secure and fully cloud-based payments technology for its clients, combined with a localised compliance and internal controls environment.

Viva.com’s recent partnerships and launches

Cloud-based neobank Viva.com announced multiple collaborations and product releases in the last couple of months, covering several different geographical areas around the world.

In September 2023, the company teamed up with France-based clothing brand Petit Bateau in order to upgrade the latter’s Store+ product. Throughout this partnership, Petit Bateau’s Store+ solution was set to be integrated with Viva.com’s payments technology, which aimed to provide it with fast, efficient, secure, and uninterrupted payment capabilities.

The strategic deal between the companies also aimed to boost sales and to meet the needs, expectations, and preferences of users for optimising their overall shopping experience. In addition, the customers were set to be given the possibility to benefit from a unified and convenient payment experience, with the upgraded Store+ ordering product being launched in all of the Petit Bateau stores across the region of Europe. This included countries such as Belgium, the UK, Germany, Italy, and more.

Earlier in the same month, Viva.com announced the expansion of its Tap-to-Pay on iPhone capability to the Netherlands, aiming to enable contactless payment acceptance for merchants and traders in the area.

By using the Tap-to-pay on iPhone service, all contactless payment forms were accepted, including contactless credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, and other digital wallets. The process only leveraged an iPhone and the Viva Termina iOS App, with no additional hardware or payment terminals being required for the procedure to be finished.
