Tuesday 29 November 2022 08:24 CET | News

Canada-based fintech company Nuvei has announced that it has partnered with UK-based airline Virgin Atlantic to enable a better payment experience for its customers.

With Nuvei building customised solutions on its technology designed for some of the largest companies in the industry, through this partnership, Virgin Atlantic is looking to provide customers with a frictionless payment experience, enabling them to pay using their preferred payment method globally.

As part of the agreement, Virgin Atlantic will be given access to Nuvei’s proprietary modular platform, which is designed for boosting acceptance rates and accelerating revenue, with the agreement marking the latest in a series of partnerships with travel companies of the likes of Air Transat, Scott Dunn, and Selina, amongst others.

Nuvei representatives have advised in the company’s press release that the partnership in this space is reflective of their commitment in accelerating business for the travel industry, with the fintech looking forward to providing customers of Virgin Atlantic with improved, localised, and intuitive digital payment experiences that are ‘fit for a modern world’. A Virgin Atlantic spokesperson, when commenting on the partnership, advised that they selected Nuvei as a payment partner as they believe strategic payments to help accelerate revenues, as they represent a key touchpoint with their customers. Furthermore, the airline believes that Nuvei’s global payment expertise is complemented by their human approach to doing business, stating that they are looking forward to taking their payment strategy to another level and accelerate their business growth.

The travel industry and Virgin Atlantic's involvement

As per information gathered by Statista and quoted in the company’s press release, the global travel industry is projected to have its market volume reach USD 992.10 billion by 2026, with 73% of the total revenue thought to be generated by 2026 through online sales, thus making digital payments instrumental for the industry’s growth.

Virgin Atlantic was founded in 1984, having innovation and customer service at its core; headquartered in the UK, the company has 6,500 employees worldwide, flying customers to 27 destinations across four continents.

In February 2020, Air France-KLM, Delta Air Lines and Virgin Atlantic launched an expanded Joint Venture, offering a comprehensive route network, convenient flight schedules, competitive fares, and reciprocal frequent flyer benefits, such as the ability to earn and redeem miles across all carriers.

Canada-based fintech company Nuvei has announced that it has partnered with Virgin Atlantic to enable a better payment experience for its customers.
