Zwipe to partner with a payment service company for biometric cards in North America

Friday 17 December 2021 09:30 CET | News

Norway-based fintech Zwipe has recently partnered with local company IDEX Biometrics to study the payment habits and concerns for safer, secure payments in North America.

The study shows that biometric cards are in strong demand in both the US and Canada with 77% and 81% of the respondents, respectively, mentioning they want their next payment card to use biometrics.

Most people also mentioned they would be willing to pay a monthly fee to be issued biometric cards for safety concerns, which determined both companies to work together for a solution.

The future biometric card proposition will be pitched to select customers aiming to secure pilots and further commercial launches in the following months, paving the way for biometric cards to be adopted in the largest credit card markets globally. The news comes shortly after the company announced a partnership with a local Egyptian company to release the first biometric card in Africa.
