Interbanco the first bank to issue American Express-branded Cards in Paraguay

This partnership is the first of its kind between American Express and a Paraguayan financial institution. As a new partner, InterBanco, the leading privately-owned bank in Paraguay, will be responsible for all operations supporting the InterBanco-American Express Cards, including billing and payment systems, customer servicing, credit management, and marketing. Since September 18, InterBanco has been responsible for adding new establishments and providing services to the American Express network of merchant establishments all over Paraguay, with the support of Bancard S.A. This new agreement enables American Express to dramatically increase the number of establishments accepting the American Express Card in Paraguay and, as a result, significantly enhance the relevance and utility of the Card to customers living in or visiting the country. InterBanco will issue a variety of American Express credit and charge Cards, enabling customers to choose the Card that best fits their lifestyles and demands. The cards will be denominated in the local currency, guarani, and will provide a range of advantages and benefits, including 24 x 7 customer service, travel assistance services at over 2,200 American Express Travel Agencies, access to more than 550,000 ATMs worldwide, purchase protection insurance, automatic travel insurance and rental car insurance. Members will also be able to enroll in the Membership Rewards® Program, earn points through their purchases, and redeem them for a wide range of benefits at first-class establishments both locally and internationally. The servicing of American Express International Dollar Cardmembers will continue to be handled by InterExpress, a long-standing affiliate of the American Express Travel Services Network. The launch of the new American Express-InterBanco Cards will be supported by a major communication campaign, featuring segments of the global American Express advertising campaign, My Life, My Card.. The campaign features well-known international personalities, such as Tiger Woods, Kate Winslet, Andy Roddick and Venus Williams. With 17 branches, InterBanco has become one of the main banks in the Paraguayan financial market. It is strongly positioned in the personal and corporate markets, offering innovative products and services that stand out because of their technology, quality and convenience.
