MoonPay has integrated Cash App Pay, letting eligible US customers buy digital assets using their Cash App balance across its partner network.
MoonPay, a financial technology company enabling the movement of value across fiat and digital assets, has integrated Cash App Pay into its platform. The company states it is the first digital currency provider to offer this payment method, allowing eligible US customers to use their Cash App balance to purchase digital assets directly through MoonPay and select partners across its network.
Once a customer links their Cash App account, purchases can be completed within the MoonPay buy flow without additional redirects or re-authentication steps. In addition, the integration extends beyond MoonPay's own platform to select partners, including Trust Wallet, Bitcoin.com, MetaMask, Moonshot, Ledger, BitPay, Uniswap, Tangem, LOBSTR, and Edge. Cash App Pay services are provided by Block, Inc., which does not itself provide virtual currency services in connection with the payment method.
Ivan Soto-Wright, chief executive officer and co-founder of MoonPay, said the integration allows Cash App users to access the digital asset ecosystem using an application many already use for everyday money management. Furthermore, Morgan Kuntze, global partnerships lead at Block, Cash App's parent company, said the addition of Cash App Pay is intended to give customers additional choice at checkout, while noting that bitcoin remains central to Cash App's digital asset strategy.
Regulatory position
MoonPay holds a BitLicense and a New York Limited Purpose Trust Company Charter from the New York State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS). The company also holds Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) authorisation across the EU, along with registrations in the UK, Australia, and Canada. This regulatory footprint spans multiple jurisdictions relevant to both fiat and digital asset activity.
The integration reflects a broader pattern in which established consumer payment applications are being connected to digital asset purchasing flows, reducing the number of steps required for users to move from fiat balances into crypto holdings. Moreover, for Cash App, the partnership adds a further use case for its payment infrastructure outside its core peer-to-peer and bitcoin-related services. For MoonPay, the addition of a widely used US payment method may support customer acquisition among users who have not previously engaged with digital asset platforms directly.
