Wincor Nixdorf Launches New VersaLane for Mobile POS Solution

Monday 12 January 2004 16:34 CET | News

Wincor Nixdorf has launched the VersaLane, a mobile, battery-powered cash wrap on wheels that can be used anywhere in the store to provide a temporary checkout lane.

Wincor Nixdorf is the first point-of-sale (POS) company to develop a complete solution for a mobile checkout lane. VersaLane gives retailers the flexibility to configure checkout lanes whenever and wherever theyre needed, allowing them to deploy temporary checkout lanes for seasonal or weekend traffic, garden centers, sidewalk sales, new store openings and other applications. With VersaLane, retailers can make the most of their valuable floor space, decreasing the amount of space dedicated to fixed POS displays and freeing up more room for promotional campaigns, seasonal merchandise and impulse purchases. Intended for use with any member of the BEETLE family of POS systems, the VersaLane includes batteries to provide up to 24 hours of power, depending on configuration. VersaLane also has room for an entire POS checkout system, including printer, cash drawer, scanner, keyboard, display and other peripherals. When not in use at the point of sale, these versatile systems can be used for inventory management and label printing, allowing them to serve multiple functions within the store. VersaLane combines an attractive, ergonomic design with rugged, retail-hardened construction. The frame is welded, not bolted, and finished with scratch and rust resistant paint, allowing it to handle most outdoor environments. High-quality, double-bearing casters with rotation/directional locks keep VersaLane stable and allow it to be easily moved with only five pounds of pressure. Power components can be configured to allow for a wide array of uptime/recharge options.
