Westpac’s third-party Android terminal app, Presto, was introduced as part of new cloud-based integrated payments solutions for merchant customers to help expedite and simplify how they run their business.
Based on the information detailed in the press release, developed in collaboration with mx51, the Presto app is now available on Westpac’s fleet of Android-based EFTPOS Now terminals and enables key point-of-sale features to be integrated with payments on a single device, in a simplified manner.
Leveraging the app, businesses can connect their terminal to more than 100 well-known hospitality and retail point-of-sale systems wirelessly. In addition to accelerating checkout times and decreasing the chance of keying errors, the app also provides access to a real-time dashboard for tracking sales and business performance.
When commenting on the announcement, Westpac officials advised that for small businesses it is important to serve their customers as quickly and efficiently as possible, particularly within the retail and hospital industries. Within this context, the Presto app, alongside Westpac’s new EFTPOS Now terminals, will enable businesses of the like of restaurants and cafes to take advantage of integrated terminal benefits such as simplifying the end-of-day reconciliation process, while concomitantly receiving access to all the innovations brought to market by Westpac on the new device.
What is more, it is set to help reduce the chance of keying errors and expedite the checkout process, helping save time particularly when at rush hour. Per their statement, the launch comes as part of the enterprise’s commitment to supporting the evolving needs of its customers.
More to this point, mx51 representatives added that both Westpac and mx51 are passionate about redefining the hospitality and retail payments environment, and the most recent innovation helps cement their undertaking to bring the most suitable merchant experiences to life for their customers.
The announcement further highlights that in addition to the Presto app, Westpac launched EFTPOS Connect with Linkly Cloud earlier in October, looking to enable businesses to wirelessly connect their terminal to a tablet for a neater countertop and increased flexibility to accept payments anywhere in-store. What is more, Westpac is currently in pilot with EFTPOS Flex, a solution that aims to help businesses integrate their terminal with a self-serve checkout or kiosk to reduce queuing and improve the retail customer experience.
