Western Unions Q4 2010 revenue reaches USD 1.4 billion

Money transfer services provider Western Union has seen its Q4 2010 revenue reach USD 1.4 billion, a 3 percent increase compared to the same interval in 2009, recent financial results have revealed.

According to the results, Western Union reported restructuring expenses of USD 11 million or USD 7 million after-tax in its Q4 2010. In addition, the company’s Q4 2010 operating income margin was 24 percent excluding restructuring expenses, the results have shown.

Moreover, the results have highlighted that the company’s Q4 2010 earnings per share (EPS) were worth USD 0.37, whereas EPS on a constant currency basis were reported to USD 0.38 in Q4 2010.

For Q4 2010, the company’s consumer-to-consumer (C2C) segment represented 85 percent of Western Union’s revenue and amounted to USD 1.2 billion, an increase of 3 percent or 5 percent on a constant currency basis, compared to Q4 2009. In addition, Western Union handled 56 million C2C transactions in Q4 2010, a 9 percent growth compared to Q4 2009, the results have revealed.

For the full year 2010, Western Union has seen its revenue reach USD 5.2 billion, a 2 percent growth compared to 2009. In addition, the company reported restructuring expenses of USD 60 million or USD 39 million after-tax for the full year 2010.

Furthermore, the results have pointed out that Western Union’s 2010 operating margin was 25 percent, or 26 percent excluding restructuring expenses. The company reported EPS of USD 1.36 and EPS of USD 1.43 on a constant currency basis in 2010, according to the results.

For the full year 2010, the company’s C2C segment represented 84 percent of Western Union’s revenue and amounted to USD 4.4 billion, a 2 percent increase from 2009. In addition, Western Union handled 214 million C2C transactions in 2010, a 9 percent increase compared to 2009.

As far as the company’s 2010 total revenue per regions is concerned, the Europe, Middle East, Africa and South Asia (EMEASA) region accounted for 44 percent of Western Union’s revenue during the interval, while the Americas region represented 31 percent of the company’s 2010 revenue. The Asia Pacific (APAC) region accounted for 9 percent of Western Union’s 2010 revenue, whereas India and China represented 7 percent of the company’s 2010 revenue, according to the results.
