Vital Class A Approval for Hypercom T7 and T7Plus Terminals

Hypercom Corporation has received Class A approval for the newest edition of its HyperWare point-of-sale software applications by long-time business partner Vital Processing Services (Vital). Class A approval enables Vital acquirers to offer their merchants the ability to process credit, debit, Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) and electronic check conversion transactions - all fromthe same T7 or T7Plus payment terminal.

The addition of electronic check conversion support is expected to expand the use of Hypercom hardware by allowing Vitals acquiring clients to meet a broad range of merchant needs at the point of sale. Along with imaging capabilities, Vital POS Check Service converts check information into electronic form, similar to a debit card transaction, for authorization and processing. This reduces merchant bad check losses, improves check collection efficiency, simplifies the funds management process and enhances customer service. Vital has sold the Hypercom T7 point-of-sale device for years, and first Class A approved the next-generation T7Plus model in 2003. The T7Plus accepts all magnetic stripe cards, delivers fast authorization of online transactions and includes 19- or 35-key keyboard with One-Touch shortcut keys that provide quick access to all daily functions and transaction types. These shortcuts speed transactions by eliminating the need for retail personnel to hunt through extended menus or input hard-to-remember key sequences. The units integrated printer generates receipts at twice the speed of traditional point-of-transaction printers, operates virtually jam-free and supports longer paper rolls to reduce paper changes. These and other features save time, minimize help desk calls and lower the total cost of ownership for retail merchants.
