Monday 17 June 2024 13:30 CET | News

Multinational payment card services corporation Visa has unveiled a series of new features for its SavingsEdge programme.

These new features are aimed at promoting smarter spending and increased savings for Visa Business cardholders in the United States and Canada. Originally launched in 2008, the programme continues to offer rebates on qualifying purchases from participating merchants to eligible cardholders.

In essence, Visa SavingsEdge was designed to support small business cardholders with savings, tools, and resources. The programme includes Instant Coupons, which provide point-of-sale discounts via a code, and Cashback Offers, which give statement credits for linked Visa Business card purchases. These savings appear as credits on future account statements.

What are the main improvements?

The latest enhancements to the programme include an upgraded website with better features and functionality. Both Instant Coupons and Cashback Offers now cover a wider range of merchants in categories such as travel, restaurants, electronics, and business services. The updated programme also introduces instant alerts for cashback earnings and a tracker for monitoring savings. Cardholders previously enrolled in the program will need to re-link their cards to benefit from the enhanced Cashback Offers.

This update aligns with Visa’s efforts to support small businesses with technological advancements and improved payment solutions. The expanded benefits of the Visa SavingsEdge programme are looking to attract more small businesses to Visa-branded payment products, potentially boosting Visa’s revenues according to Yahoo.

The changes are timely, as indicated by the Visa Small Business Pulse survey, which shows that 77% of surveyed US businesses expect revenue growth in 2024, improving the economic outlook. Additionally, 59% of US small businesses are optimistic about the economy, up from 47% in 2023, and 64% are interested in investing in cost-saving technology.
