US-based electronic payment services provider VeriFone Systems is preparing the H5000, a countertop payment offering which includes a series of payment types, such as legacy magnetic stripe, EMV chip and contactless transaction with a hybrid card slot and integrated NFC contactless reader.

The H5000 is a successor to Hypercom Artema Hybrid payment solution available on the German market and is the first enhancement of a Hypercom system since the company was acquired by Verifone in August 2011. The H5000 incorporates a PIN pad and an optional printer.

The H5000 is set to be operated at check-outs as a stand-alone device or to be connected to a cash register system. This payment service is set to work with VeriFone’s PAYware TCS central management system, which allows Network Service Providers and retailers to control their payment device estate. Another feature of the PAYware TCS is the NFC-based value added service.

VeriFone plans early availability of the H5000 for Q1 2012 while general availability is scheduled for Q2 2012.
