With the acquisition, Vasco is planning to enhance its digital signature services and PKI (public key infrastructure) offering.DigiNotar issues digital certificates or PKI identities and authenticates individuals conducting business over the internet using those digital certificates. In addition, the company provides various electronic signing services, document registration and storage services, as well as SSL-certificates to private companies.
Moreover, DigiNotar has developed the EazyID concept, which aims to set up a national consumer authentication platform in the Netherlands. This concept is based on Vasco’s Digipass and Vacman authentication technologies.
Currently, DigiNotar’s offers its services only to the Dutch marketplace; however,Vasco may decide to introduce DigiNotar as a certification authority in other EU countries as well.
