TNS Smart Network Inc. Introduces Transaction Alert System

Monday 24 October 2005 00:13 CET | News

Canadian TNS Smart Network (TNS) has launched a new service, the TNS Transaction Alert System, aimed at combating Identity Theft and ensuring consumer confidence when using their debit cards for cash withdrawals.

This new service will allow customers to securely register their e-mail address and their card number free of charge. Registered customers will receive an e-mail each time their card is used at an ATM that processes through TNS, alerting them to the fact that a transaction has occurred. This allows consumers to verify transactions and to question any suspicious activity in a timely manner. The recent outbreak of high profile security breaches makes this a critical time for businesses to review and improve their information management and security practices. Although several steps are identified for consumers to minimize becoming a victim of identify theft, businesses must also react in order to build and maintain enduring trust with customers, partners and stockholders. TNS Transaction Alert System is guided by extremely strict privacy guidelines. Registration occurs at a secure, encrypted website, card numbers are masked, even during the registration process and no other personal information such as the customer name or address is gathered, to ensure the cardholders privacy.
