Popular U.K. Pub Chain Extends Trial of NCR POS Solution

Wednesday 28 January 2004 00:20 CET | News

JD Wetherspoon plc, a leading U.K. pub chain, will extend their trial of an end-to-end NCR point-of-sale (POS) and back-office solution, following an initialseven-pub pilot.

JD Wetherspoon currently operates more than 640 pubs and is one of the United Kingdoms most innovative and respected leisure operators. The trial includes NCR RealPOS touchscreen terminals with POS software from Compris Technologies, a wholly owned subsidiary of NCR, and Web-based eRestaurant Services enterprise back-office software from NCRs partner, Altametrics. NCR is also providing hardware and software support. Over the next few weeks, JD Wetherspoon will extend the trial to newly opening pub locations, including sites in Durham, Manchester, Chichester and Loughborough, England. NCR said the new solution is designed to improve JD Wetherspoons ability to manage promotions across outlets and provide a foundation for improving the effectiveness of its supply chain. An additional benefit is reduced training time for staff through the use of NCRs Compris software.
