PayPal has officially announced the appointment of Scott Guilfoyle as senior vice president in charge of platform services. Guilfoyle, who has previously held management positions in companies such as Bank of America and General Electric, will have to draw on his previous online banking and technology expertise in overseeing the next stage in the development of PayPals popular payment platform.

Guilfoyle has previously been in charge of building Bank of America’s online banking platform and has also been involved in the implementation of eBusiness, an initiative which transferred General Electric’s aircraft business processes online. He will take over his new position at PayPal in September.
