National Processing Company, has reported results of a pilot program to migrate healthcare providers from paper checks to Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT).

The program has in a very short time, less than eight weeks, migrated 24 percent of the targeted providers from paper checks to EFT. And, as a byproduct of the program, another four percent opted to begin accepting their remittance information electronically -- eliminating their need for paper altogether. The program is part of the NPCs HealthePay service offering for the payer community. NPCs HealthePay service manages the payment and remittance process between payers and providers. NPC provides either paper or electronic remittances and payments, based on the providers preferences, in addition to a suite of administrative banking services. The program targeted the top 100 provider offices, ranked by number of payments.
