North Dallas Bank Introduces New Check Fraud Prevention Service

North Dallas Banks Cash Management Division plans to offer a new service that can provide another layer of prevention against fraud with image-survivable security features for the new Check 21 environment. SAND is a patented electronic check fraud prevention solution based on a revolutionary concept originated by Advanced Software Design Corporation (ASD) and offered through BISYS Document Solutions, North Dallas Banks item processing and imaging provider. SAND, short for "Self Authenticated Negotiable Document", is an end-to- end software solution that eliminates counterfeits and forgeries. SAND enables business customers to print a tamper-proof encrypted barcode on their checks, locking-in the original payment information and uniquely identifying each check printed on each account. Using solely the check as the medium to communicate the original information -- check number, amount, payee -- eliminates the burden on customers to send check issue files to the bank. No additional effort is required on the customers part. At the first point of presentment, the SAND verification software authenticates the encrypted barcodes on the checks.
