NFC Forum rolls out Certification Program

Monday 13 December 2010 15:31 CET | News

The NFC Forum, an association that promotes the use of NFC technology, has launched its Certification Program at the Cartes & Identification event in France.

The NFC Forum Certification Program is set to enable device manufacturers to establish their products compliance with the NFC Forums technical specifications.

Under the program, companies submit their devices to an authorized NFC Forum test laboratory for conformance testing using NFC Forum-validated test tools. The results are submitted to the independent, neutral third-party certification administrator for validation and approval. Moreover, only companies whose products pass certification testing will be able to display the N-Mark, the universal symbol for NFC, on their devices. Thus, the N-Mark tells consumers where to touch to initiate NFC services on a device.

Some of the NFC Forum Certification Program partners include the Open Group, a vendor-neutral and technology-neutral consortium, AT4 wireless, a global supplier of test services for wireless communications industries, as well as Belgium-based payments technology provider Clear2Pay and global testing, inspection, certification and technological services company Applus+.
