SWIFT, an industry-owned cooperative that supplies secure messaging services and interface software to 7,500 financial institutions in 200 countries, is actively migrating its worldwide customer base from its FIN X.25 network to its Secure IP Network that supports the SWIFTNet messaging platform. The Sterling Commerce solution smoothly interfaces with SWIFTAlliance Gateway to enable back-end integration between the customers financial applications and the SWIFTNet FileAct Service. Connect:Direct Version 2.0 for SWIFTNet supports numerous operating systems and protocols, allowing data to be controlled and securely automated across networks that include disparate machines. The solution is application and data format independent, providing implementation flexibility and low integration cost. Connect:Direct Version 2.0 for SWIFTNet automatically establishes a connection when data is ready to transfer and provides a retry mechanism at the point of failure, should the connection be disrupted. This additional functionality will cut down on data transfer times by removing the need to restart the exchange process from the initial start point. The new version also provides customers backup capabilities to automatically reroute files to a second SWIFTAlliance Gateway in the case the original transmission fails.
