Nationlink launching new ATM network in the Philippines

Saturday 13 May 2006 13:39 CET | News

Philippino-based Infoserve is set to activate a network that will interconnect automated teller machines and point of sales of rural banks, thrift banks, cooperatives, and non-government organizations through out the Philippines.

Infoserve will launch next week “Nationlink” to become Philippines fourth ATM network after Megalink, Bancnet, and Expressnet. The network is initially looking at linking up 100 ATMs of rural banks, thrift banks, cooperatives, and NGOs all over the country within the next 12 months to 18 months. Nationlink is supported by international and local partners led by telephone giant Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co., chip-maker Intel, Diebold, and Microsoft. The network would put up remittance kiosks and cash-in or cash-out counters in the countryside to provide millions of Filipino workers overseas a better and cheaper alternative in sending their money to the Philippines.
