Online retailers at Sympatico.MSN.ca Shopping have seen record traffic this holiday season, according to early numbers from ComScore Media Metrix.

Traffic is up 37 per cent over last year at Sympatico.MSN.cas online mall for November. The heavy activity made for a record shopping month at Canadas most popular portal. Since Canada Post and most online retailers only guarantee Christmas shipping on purchases made as of the first week of December, the November numbers provide a strong snapshot of activity for the overall holiday shopping season. The increase in online shoppers on Sympatico.MSN.ca Shopping is consistent with results of a survey of visitors to the Sympatico.MSN.ca Web site conducted earlier this season by OpenVenue e-Research Solutions. It showed that 42 per cent of Canadians intended to turn to the Internet for holiday shopping, and that from start-to-finish, shopping online is perceived as a positive experience. In the area of delivery and returns, 32 per cent of shoppers who have returned Internet purchases described the experience as easy and almost one quarter of online shoppers described the experience as hassle-free. Technology products are high on Canadians wish lists this holidayseason. Four of the top searches this season are related to technology: iPod, Xbox, MP3 and Printers were the most common key words searched on the Sympatico/MSN Shopping site.
