MoneyGram partners First Bank of Nigeria to provide money transfer services

Global money transfer company MoneyGram has signed an agreement with financial services provider First Bank of Nigeria to roll out its international money transfer services in 500 locations across the Nigerian territory.

As the most populated region of Africa, Nigeria has been ranked in the top 10 receive countries for money transfers. According to the World Bank, approximately USD 10 billion in remittances were sent to Nigeria in 2009. The US qualifies as the primary send country followed by Canada, Germany, Israel, Italy, Liberia, Libya, Malaysia, Spain, South Africa and the United Kingdom.

MoneyGram has been active on the Nigerian market since 1998 and has entered partnerships with eight Nigerian banks, including the First Bank.
