Mellon GCMs John Lucas Elected Vice Chairman of NACHAs Electronic Check

John Lucas, first vice president and head of the electronic services product line for Mellon Global Cash Management (GCM) in Pittsburgh, has been elected Vice Chairman of the Steering Committee of NACHAs Electronic Check Council.Lucas has spent his entire career in the treasury services industry. He has been instrumental in the design and deployment of the extensive suite of electronic payments solutions at Mellon GCM, a treasury services business of Mellon Financial Corporation. He has a bachelors degree in business administration from Robert Morris University. NACHA estimates that more than 1.3 billion e-check payments were made in 2003, an increase of 154 percent over 2002. An e-check is an electronic debit to a consumers checking account that is initiated on the Internet, over the telephone, at the point-of-sale, or via a bill remittance sent through the mail, and is processed electronically using the Automated Clearing House (ACH) Network. The Electronic Check Council was established in 1995 as a forum to facilitate the development of electronic check products and services. The Council has 140 members representing financial institutions, retailers, billing companies, government agencies, and vendors. Dennis Simmons, AAP, President and Chief Executive Officer of SWACHA - The Electronic Payments Resource, serves as the Chairman of the Councils Steering Committee.
