Interpay and Unisys Sign Agreement to Transfer Processing of Paper-based Payment Documents

Monday 5 April 2004 11:16 CET | News

Payment processor Interpay and Unisys Corporation have announced that Interpay will transfer the operations of its Document Services business unit -- including client contracts with Dutch banks, assets and approximately 130 employees -- to a Unisys business process outsourcing operation in the Netherlands.

The overall business agreement is estimated to be worth approximately US$110 million to Unisys over five years. The Document Services business unit processes approximately 110 million paper-related payments a year for Dutch banks. As a result, Unisys will establish a new financial services utility operation for financial institutions across continental Europe. This business model aggregates the document processing of paper-based payments for multiple banks, allowing the banks to take advantage of technology innovations and remain competitive while providing economies of scale that keep costs affordable.
