Thursday 20 January 2005 02:04 CET | News

The Melbourne Cricket Ground -- the largest stadium in the Southern Hemisphere with up to 100,000 seats -- has selected InfoGenesis information technology solution to manage all food and beverage point-of-sale (POS) transactions throughout the stadium.

The sale was completed by InfoGenesis Australia, a Sydney-based reseller of the companys products and services. The Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), whose origins date to 1854, is undergoing a major redevelopment that includes the demolition and reconstruction of the northern and western sections of the stadium. Scheduled to reopen in late 2005 for the Commonwealth Games of 2006, MCG will be one of the most technologically advanced stadiums in the world. More than 400 IBM SurePOS touch screen terminals running Microsoft-based Revelation POS from InfoGenesis will provide management with real-time access to information from all levels of the stadiums food and beverage operations. Virtual Manager, an event and customer-relationship management (CRM) program developed by InfoGenesis Australia, will be installed with Revelation to provide complete and real-time analysis of the business operation during an event. Virtual Manager provides a valuable tool to assist managers with inventory and forecasting based on historical information such as type of event, attendance, and weather and seasonal factors. Virtual Manager also provides a complete loyalty and promotional system.
