UK-based payment processor HSBC Merchant Services has rolled out a new service, dubbed Global Fortress, to enable businesses to protect their customers’ transactions against fraud.

Global Fortress service is designed to help merchants to protect customer data and regularly test security systems, among other services, through Qualified Security Assessor and SecurityMetrics. The new service is set to help merchants comply with a set of minimum security requirements mandated by Card Schemes such as Visa and MasterCard. The new security requirements have been put in place to ensure that all the Card Schemes customers’ card transactions are adequately protected against fraudsters, who are increasingly focusing on small businesses.

HSBC Merchant Services is a subsidiary of Global Payments, a provider of electronic transaction processing services for merchants, Independent Sales Organizations (ISOs), financial institutions, government agencies and multi-national corporations located throughout the US, Canada, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.
