Howard Herndon Joins First American Payment Systems

First American Payment Systems, has named Mr. Howard W. Herndon to Executive Vice President and General Counsel.

Mr. Herndon has substantial experience in matters involving the electronic transactions industry, mergers and acquisitions, securities and corporate finance, and venture capital financing. Mr. Herndons addition to First American enhances one of the finest senior management teams in the merchant processing industry, according to Neil L. Randel, President and Chief Executive Officer. ,br> Mr. Herndon most recently was a member of Waller Lansden Dortch & Davis, PLLC in Nashville, Tenn. He was the Chairman of Waller Lansden’s Venture Capital Practice Group and Co-Chairman of the Opinions Committee. He also served on the firms Operations Committee. Mr. Herndon was the firms representative and voting member of the Electronic Transactions Association. Mr. Herndon received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Washington and Lee University, graduating magna cum laude, in 1981. He was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He received his Juris Doctor degree from Vanderbilt University in 1984. He is a member of the Nashville Bar Association, Texas State Bar Association, and American Bar Association. He is a former Chairman of the Tennessee Arts Commission, former Chairman of the Tennessee Arts Commissions’ State Museum Committee, and Chairman of the Tennessee State Museum Foundation. Mr. Herndon is also a former member of the Museum Committee of Cheekwood Museum of Art, a former commission member of the Tennessee Capitol Commission and member of the Tennessee Executive Residence Preservation Foundation.
