First TP.net pilot installation at Système-U

Wincor Nixdorf has successfully completed the pilot installation of its TP.net POS software at the Système U store in Rosny-sous-Bois in the French département of Seine Saint-Denis.

The switchover to the new software was undertaken during the night of March 8 to 9. The store opened for business as usual on March 9 and commenced operation without a hitch. Système U, one of France’s leading retailers, is to deploy TP.net right across the country and has ordered 10,000 software licenses for its 850 branches. The aim of introducing the new software is to implement a standard software which can be customized easily in line with the retailer’s requirements and which comes into its own with its future-proof characteristics and its low cost across the entire product life cycle (TCO). The fact that the solution is going to make the checkout personnel’s work easier is already plain to see. Even after as little as two hours’ familiarization training, the cashiers were fully conversant with the touchscreen-operated software. The conversion included all of the store’s checkout points – the checkout area with nine tills, the customer service point and the bakery till. The hardware consists of Beetle systems complete with 15” touchscreens. In other stores where the software is to be installed next, other manufacturers’ systems are in use. Other pilots are due to be carried out in stores in Lyon, Port-la-Nouvelle and Guichen, with the mass rollout scheduled to start in September. With TP.net, Wincor Nixdorf has developed a software product able to meet the strategic requirements of international retailing. TP.net is based on standard technologies such as XML, the OPOS peripheral control system and the Microsoft development standard .NET. The solution also offers a comprehensive range of functions and features, enabling TP.net to be deployed in a wide range of different store systems, ensuring support for innovative checkout concepts.
