Payment processing and security vendor Equinox Payments has achieved PCI PTS 3.0 compliance for L5200, L5300 and L5400 multimedia payment terminals. Apart from meeting the card payment terminal security requirements, PCI PTS 3.0 has introduced three new modules for open protocols, integration and secure reading and exchange of data.

The L5000 product suite provide a series of services including barcode price checking, gift card loading, wedding registry processing at kiosks and health insurance card processing in the pharmacy. The L5000 series features a range of the payment industry’s security data encryption technology in addition to PCI PTS 3.0. The product line includes Equinox’s Remote Key Injection System for on-site, in-store or in-lane payment terminal key injection at the point of sale.

Each L5000 terminal is able to connect to any point-of-sale register system via all of the industry standard communications formats and features modular communication interfaces for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Ethernet (plus Power-over-Ethernet) which allow retailers to change their connectivity options.

The L5300, launched in mid-2011, has been deployed at a number of retailers across the US. The entry level L5200 is expected to be available for shipment in Q1 2012, and L5400 is expected to be available later in 2012. Orders for the PCI 3.0 compliant L5300 and L5200 terminals can be placed starting in late Q1 2012.

Equinox is a portfolio company of The Gores Group, a private equity firm focused on acquiring controlling interests in mature and growing businesses.
