The EFMA (European Financial Marketing and Management Association) hosts a European conference on Outsourcing in Financial Services on February 24 and 25 in the Amsterdam Marriot hotel.

Key focus is sharing experiences with practitioners from various types of players in the financial services industry Where outsourcing once began with getting someone else to do the cleaning, today it can go all the way to handling precious customer contact through outsourced and even offshore call centres to handling the full administration of claims in the insurance industry. IT professionals however are most likely to face the challenge of seeing their jobs move out of the door these days, and the information and technology rich industries, such as financial services have all had this issue on the board room agenda at some time. Outsourcing, off-shoring, BPO – all this terminology focuses on the core issue of handing over some discrete functions to experts outside the business so that the company can focus on the work they do best. The EFMA hosts a conference offering an overview and practical insight and experiences (case studies) for every financial services company that considers outsourcing (part of) their operations. This is the right time to take on board the industrys early lessons learned, soak up new developments and trends ahead. Key speakers will cover: - the lifecycle of outsourcing, lessons learned, a keynote address by outsourcing veteran Andrew Lloyd - vision on the future of off-shoring by Datamonitor, Deloitte and Morgan Chambers - case studies from banking, insurance, investment management by Delta Lloyd, Deutsche Bank, De Goudse, Abbey National and Gartmore. - update on legal issues, business models, regulation, corporate governance and more by eminent legal outsourcing experts from Lawrence Graham LLP and Simmons & Simmons - the people issue, HR and communcation by Nick Alford from Morley Fund Management who recently went through this process - lessons from industry players such as Diebold on cash outsourcing and Perot Systems on how to (re)negotiate and work with your supplier. On the last day Rory Murphy, Assistant General Secretary of Amicus, one of the largest unions for financial services in the UK, with over 20 years of experience in outsourcing, will set the scene for a sparkling debate on the key dillemma of globalisation and outsourcing.
