EBay to provide third party developers with access to Selling Manager

Friday 20 June 2008 07:03 CET | News

EBay has announced plans to enable third parties to integrate applications directly onto its ecommerce site. As a result of this initiative, developers are able to submit seller tools for inclusion directly onto eBay Selling Manager online tool, which manages and tracks listings on eBay. Over 700,000 professional eBay sellers have subscribed to Selling Manager, which until now has consisted only of applications developed in-house at eBay.

External applications that are built via eBay web services represent over 28 percent of all eBay.com listings. Sellers that already use selling features in Selling Manager will be able to find and subscribe to third-party tools in the same way they do now for eBay-developed tools.Developers who want to build applications on eBay.com will be required to meet site standards for trusted buying and selling experiences. The programme is currently in alpha testing stages, but eBay intends to expand it in Q1 2009.
