EAPS opens membership to individual organisations

Wednesday 9 December 2009 14:46 CET | News

The Euro Alliance of Payment Schemes (EAPS), an alliance of European card schemes, has widened membership to individual organisations.

As a result of the initiative, individual participants, including acquirers, will be able to accept an increasing number of EAPS cards in Europe, irrespective of their being involved in international payments schemes. Acquirers in European countries without a domestic payment scheme in place will be able to engage with EAPS to offer cross-border transactions.

Founded by Consorzio Bancomat (Italy), Eufiserv (Europe), Euro 6000 (Spain), Link (UK), SIBS (Portugal) and Zentraler Kreditausschuss (Germany), the European card solution for payment schemes and individual banks is committed to improving card usage in a harmonised Europe (SEPA). EAPS participants represent over 222 million cards, 2.2 million POS payment terminals and almost 200,000 ATMs.
