Wednesday 26 May 2004 19:47 CET | News

CREDANT Technologies, has expanded its product line with its new mobile security solution, CREDANT Mobile Guardian (CMG) Group Edition.

The new solution protects data and provides device security for workgroup size deployments of 1,000 or less--allowing organizations to safely mobilize groups of high-risk users to meet internal or federally-mandated compliance standards. The new solution is designed to accommodate phased mobile and wireless deployment and purchasing trends within enterprises and provides a migration path to the award-winning, CREDANT Mobile Guardian Enterprise Edition. The new CMG Group Edition solution protects applications and data that reside on Windows Mobile Pocket PC, Pocket PC Phone Edition and Palm-based mobile devices. Providing robust on-device security including mandatory PIN/password, industry-strength encryption, and automatic fail-safe kill options, CMG Group Edition is well suited to protect an organization against lost or stolen mobile devices. In addition CMG Group Edition policies can control how mobile devices are used. Supporting options that enable users to reset their own PIN/password if forgotten, disable the use of communication ports such as Bluetooth, I/O slots to prevent the storage of data on external storage cards, and the use of the built-in camera and microphone that can be used to record confidential events, as well as enable users to reset their own PIN and password if forgotten, CMG Group Edition moves security and control for mobile devices to a new level. CMG Group Edition is easy to implement. Security administrators can centrally define security policies and create CREDANT Mobile Guardian Shield client images for individual users or groups of users using a PC-based CMG policy editor. Shield client images can be distributed to users via synchronization with a PC, traditional distribution procedures, or can be downloaded from a web site. Unlike other mobile security products, the solution can be easily upgraded to CREDANT Mobile Guardian Enterprise Edition to support the growing needs of the mobile enterprise. By providing a migration path to the Enterprise Edition, organizations are assured that the CREDANT solution they select today will support their mobile security requirements long-term. Availability CREDANT Mobile Guardian Group Edition supports both Microsoft and Palm-based devices and is available through CREDANT direct sales and strategic resellers including Airloom, Envoy Data Systems, EDS, Hewlett Packard and IBM Global Services. Pricing starts at $49/user before volume discounts.
