French provider of payment solutions Ingenico has been chosen by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for the National Cashless Initiative which aims to reduce the amount of cash used in transactions in Nigeria.

Under the deal, Ingenico is set to provide a solution combining a wireless terminal with GPRS connectivity, the iWL220, and a remote Terminal Management Services (TMS). Starting with a pilot in Lagos, the nationwide deployment could include several hundreds of thousands of POS terminals within the next four years, equipping all types of merchants. The solution fully complies with security regulations and the payment application accepts all card schemes, both domestic and international.

In recent news, Ingenico has renewed the partnership between the Douglas perfumeries and its affiliate easycash Loyalty Solutions, a German payment services company.
