CBA Among Founding Members of New International Banking Federation

Monday 5 April 2004 10:39 CET | News

The Canadian Bankers Association (CBA) is one of the founding members of the new International Banking Federation (IBFed), an organization that brings together the banking associations of Canada, Europe, the United States and Australia to address the banking issues that they share.

The founding members recognize the need for a single representative body to deal with legislative, regulatory and others issues where there is a common banking interest internationally. Each member will bring their own unique skills and experiences to the table to better respond to these issues from a truly global perspective. Headquartered in London, UK, the federation collectively represents more than 18,000 banks with 275,000 branches worldwide, including 700 of the worlds top 1000 banks. Among the federations board members will be the presidents and chief executive officers of the banking associations involved, including the CBAs Mr. Protti.
