Banka Popullore signs on with MoneyGram for money transfer services

Global money transfer company MoneyGram has signed a contract with Albanian financial services provider Banka Popullore to offer the latter its money transfer services.

The service, which began on 1 February 2010, is currently available in 42 countrywide locations but is set to be expanded to all communities in Albania.

According to the World Bank, remittances single out as a significant part of the Albanian economy, supporting it with more than USD 1.5 billion annually, mainly from Italy, Greece, the United Kingdom and United States.

Founded in 2004 and acquired by Société Générale Group in 2007, Banka Popullore is MoneyGram’s fourth agent in Albania.
