Visa rolls out Click to Pay with Vietnam banks and merchants

Wednesday 11 June 2025 08:33 CET | News

Visa has launched its Click to Pay solution in Vietnam, working with several banks and payment service providers to support its rollout.

The feature enables online transactions to be completed with fewer steps by storing payment credentials securely and removing the need for manual data entry during checkout.

Vietnamese banks involved in this implementation include Techcombank, VPBank, Vietcombank, VietinBank, and MB Bank. For Techcombank and VPBank customers, the service is now live, allowing cardholders to register and use Click to Pay through their respective mobile banking applications or participating online merchants.

Integration with merchants and payment platforms

On the acceptance side, the feature has been integrated by local acquirers and payment facilitators such as Alepay Gateway (Ngan Luong Payment Gateway JSC), Payoo (VietUnion Online Services Corporation), Sacombank, and VietinBank. Through these platforms, a range of merchants, including retailers and service providers such as Galaxy Cinema, KOI Thé, and Mai Nguyen Electronics, have begun offering Click to Pay functionality.

As part of Visa’s partnership with Payoo, the solution is being introduced across Payoo’s merchant network. Officials from Visa indicated that additional merchants are expected to enable the service in the coming months.

Click to Pay supports EMVCo standards and uses the Visa Token Service (VTS), which replaces sensitive payment details such as Primary Account Numbers with unique tokens. According to Visa data, this tokenisation process has helped reduce fraud and increase transaction approval rates in other Asia-Pacific markets.

Visa representatives stated that the company’s objective is to align with Vietnam’s growing digital commerce infrastructure and national goals for cashless payments. They noted that simplifying the online checkout process not only improves convenience for consumers but may also support merchants by lowering shopping cart abandonment rates.

Findings from Visa’s Green Shoots Radar survey of 1,000 respondents suggest widespread adoption of online shopping in Vietnam, with 99% reporting having made online purchases in the past year. Click to Pay enables users to verify identity using a mobile number or email address, streamlining the purchase process without the repeated entry of payment or shipping details.
