TOD announces partnership with TPAY for mobile payments services

Monday 16 January 2023 11:39 CET | News

Streaming platform TOD has announced its partnership with mobile payments platform TPAY, allowing customers to subscribe to their services using phone numbers.

TPAY will start this collaboration by allowing TOD to accept subscription payments from clients and users via Direct Carrier Billing (DCB), as an initial phase. This will bring the content provided by the streaming platform within reach of customers who can’t or don’t have access to traditional payment methods, like credit cards or debit cards.

This will initially cover customers in Egypt and will expand to more countries and regions across Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

According to TOD officials, the services of TPAY, such as the coverage across META, secure and fast local payment methods, and the possibility of merchants to accept payments in a simple way will allow TOD to deliver the content streamed on the platform across the regions safely and efficiently.

TPAY’s strategy and solutions

Headquartered in the UAE, TPAY provides end-to-end solutions and services for merchants to access and accept payments from customers in multiple countries from Middle East, Africa, and TURKEY (META). The products provided by the company include payment rails that can remove all the complexity of payments, like cross-border settlement, compliance, risk management, or faster and safer payment cycles, helping their clients remain focused on their business, development, and expansion.

TPAY’s aim is to offer global digital service providers the possibility to leverage their local expertise, to improve financial inclusion, access customers around the region, and accept payments in emerging markets.

For its merchants, the company provides solutions such as integration with a simple Application Programming Interface (API). Digital service providers can use this to accept mobile payments from customers across MEA and Turkey, without requesting them to have a bank account, credit card, or debit card.

This will give the merchant a regional footprint, as well as the capability to offer cross-border payments and receive data insights on customer behaviours.

For its operators, TPAY offers multiple solutions such as single integration, where the client can connect its subscribers to numerous digital service providers or wallet connections. This allows clients to connect wallet users to merchants and execute real-time transactions with no need for credit or debit card details. The products include fraud prevention services, the customers benefiting from fast and secure transactions, as well as the possibility to use app stores, like Apple, Google Play, or Huawei.

The operators can benefit from data insights by receiving consolidated reconciliations, reporting, and analytics portals, together with testing the services on the company’s behalf, while the development of the integration process is handled by TPAY.
