During the period under review, QW offered new capabilities to its customers. The most popular categories of payments for goods and services in the financial year were loan repayments, buying in online stores, mobile top-ups and money transfers.
In Q1 2012, the number of online stores connected to QIWI Wallet reached 6,000 (up by 88% year-over-year).
Popular interfaces, new methods of payment and top-up
During the period under review, w.qiwi.ru registered 19 million payment transactions (up by 101%). Customers also purchased products and services via the mobile channel, thus 6.7 million payment transactions were registered (up by 24%, as compared to Q1 2011).
In Q1 2012 more sources of payment in QW became available. Now, instant purchases from mobile personal accounts are available for Megafon subscribers too. The service can be used in case of urgent payment of goods and services for small transactions; even if there are insufficient funds on a QW, it is always possible to make a transaction from a mobile account. In this same way, customers can make a deposit to the QW itself.
Yamal Payment Company offered its customers another alternative of instant cash top-up for their QW without commission: from over 1000 terminals stretching from Kaliningrad to Novy Urengoy.
Web and mobile applications: new horizons
QW has continued its geographical expansion. Since Q1 2012 the registration of Wallets has been available in Kazakhstan. Furthermore, multicurrency accounts (tenge-rubles) were introduced on the international website of the system (w.qiwi.com) and later the same in Ukraine.
Today customers can register their QW in another 14 countries, including Armenia, the UK, Georgia, Israel, Kirghizia, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldavia, Panama, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkey, Uzbekistan and Japan. Applications for IPhone, Android, Windows Phone 7, Java, Blackberry have also became available for customers in 17 countries.
Money transfers are more convenient
In the first quarter of the current year, via QW, it became possible to transfer money with the help of VISA Payments and money Transfers (VISA Personal Payments) available in 3 more countries, namely Azerbaijan, Kirghizia and Moldova. Now, while transferring money using UNISTREAM to Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kirghizia, Moldavia, Tajikistan and Ukraine, customers can choose the currency of receipt: RUR or USD.
List of business partners constantly growing
In the first quarter several site management systems offered software releases, integrating QW, including the free online store builder Ecwid. It allows customers not only to build a store on any site and accept instant payments in QW but also to create a store on social networks such as Facebook and VKontakte in 15 minutes, allowing friends to make payments through QW.
About QIWI Wallet
With QW, customers can pay for goods and services around the world, receive payments and transfer money. They can select the appropriate source of funds: QW or mobile operator account (Beeline, Megafon, MTS), cash or bank card; as well as access option: QIWI kiosks, web and mobile-site, SMS, applications for popular mobile platforms and social networks.
The number of active QW users has exceeded 8 million, with registered users now at 47 million. Financial turnover in 2011 amounted to RUR 67 billion, a 150% increase compared with 2010.
