Overstock adds PayPal, Google Checkout as payment options

Thursday 6 November 2008 13:27 CET | News

US online retailer Overstock has announced plans to integrate PayPal and Google Checkout into its Overstock Auctions website.

In order to achieve this, the company has closed a deal with third-party vendor CardinalCommerce,a company which enables authenticated payments, transactions and alternative payment brands for both online and mobile commerce.
In order to pay for their Overstock Auction purchases via the above-mentioned online payment services, buyers must take a series of steps. Firstly, if they win an auction, buyers receive a link to a payment option page via email, thus gaining access to the payment options which a certain seller provides. Secondly, shoppers must opt for one payment method, after which they are directed to the payment processor page, where they must log in and end the transaction. Overstock does not allow shoppers to make purchases from multiple sellers in one checkout flow, but the company intends to make this option available as well by the end of 2009.
