Marktplaats.nl accepts payments via PayPal

Thursday 14 May 2009 16:08 CET | News

Dutch e-commerce platform Marktplaats.nl has added PayPal to its checkout page.

As a result of the integration, starting 12 May 2009, online shoppers interested in the book, CD/ DVD and telecommunications e-commerce categories can pay directly on Marktplaats website with PayPal. The payment option comes with the PayPal Buyer Protection linked to it. Thus, purchases will be protected up to EUR 200 in case the seller does not deliver goods as promised. With the PayPal Buyer Protection program, buyers are eligible to receive coverage on purchases of tangible goods, from verified PayPal sellers with a proven track record on eBay. The protection program covers buyers only when they are defrauded, the item is never shipped, or the item is different from the auction description.

Until the end of the year, Marktplaats.nl plans to extend the PayPal Buyer Protection program to other categories as well. Markplaats.nl was acquired by eBay in 2004.
