Cielo acquires Braspag

Cielo, an electronic payment services provider in Latin America, is set to acquire the capital stock of Braspag, a Brazilian payment processing company for e-commerce and call centres, via a subsidiary.

With the acquisition, Cielo plans to expand its services in the online payment segment in Brazil which will include other capabilities such as financial reconciliation and anti-fraud intelligence tools.

Operating as a gateway, Braspags platform integrates online stores, financial institutions and acquirers and provides services such as capturing, routing and managing payment transactions with cards, collection slips and online debit.

Cielo is engaged in merchant affiliations, management of the card acceptance network as well as the capture, transmission, processing and settlement of credit and debit card transactions. The company has a chain of 1.1 million active affiliated merchants, covering 98 percent of Brazil.
