China: DHgate selects PayPals Mobile Express Checkout option

Chinese online marketplace for wholesale products DHgate has entered a partnership with the global online payment services provider PayPal to provide its customers with the latter’s mobile payments product, dubbed the Mobile Express Checkout.

Under the terms of the deal, DHgates mobile shopping website integrates PayPals Mobile Express Checkout service to enable more than 94 million active PayPal users in 190 markets to purchase over 3 million Chinese wholesale products across 4,000 categories via their smartphones and mobile devices.

Furthermore, PayPal does not share any user information with merchants and no financial details are stored on the mobile device.

Via the newly-integrated service, DHgate and PayPal are set to boost cross-border mobile commerce from Chinese sellers to the world.

PayPal ‘s Mobile Express Checkout, a mobile version of its Express Checkout service, is aimed at online merchants with payment processing abilities.

According to the research company Gartner, worldwide smartphone sales will reach 468 million units in 2011, up 58 percent year-over-yearand are expected to grow to 1.1 billion smartphones by 2015. Globally, consumers will spend USD 119 billion by 2015 via their mobile phones, according to ABI Research.
