Thursday 5 April 2012 00:04 CET | News

American Express has inked a deal with Transaction Network Services (TNS), a provider of payment gateway and payment network connectivity services, to introduce the American Express payment gateway, a payment service provider solution, which offers a single-source for all sized merchants looking to establish online payment functionality.

The newly launched service enables businesses to manage e-commerce and other card-not-present transactions and provides fraud and card data security for those transactions. The American Express payment gateway features a series of capabilities including support for card brands and payment types, enables payment acceptance globally with multi-currency enablement in over 120 global currencies and provides standard and custom implementation and in-country services.

The American Express payment gateway connects merchants with all major processors, acquirers and networks and helps enable all forms of online payment transactions to be processed via TNS payment software and global network and leveraging fraud protection capabilities from Accertify, a fraud prevention and risk management services provider.

The American Express payment gateway will initially be launched in four countries, namely the US, Mexico, the UK and Australia. The combined companies have revealed plans to continue to upgrade the payment gateway with additional features and functionality, as well as roll it out to other countries.

In recent news, American Express has entered an agreement with US retailer Office Depot to make available its American Express Prepaid Card at Office Depot stores.
