Amazon launches Login and Pay service for online merchants

Wednesday 9 October 2013 00:53 CET | News

Amazon has launched a new shopping service which allows customers, buyers and other users to browse and pay for items online and using their Amazon credentials.

The newly introduced service, dubbed Login and Pay with Amazon, streamlines how customers transact with online merchants and companies websites. All customers have to do is create an online account at Amazon and then they can both login and pay on any participating website by using their Amazon credentials. This allows customers to just have one account password - rather than many at various online merchants websites.

Amazon already has more than 215 million active customer accounts. Amazon has declared it will not share customers’ credit card information and it will cover all purchases with its Guarantee protection program. Login and Pay with Amazon - which works on tablets, mobile and desktop devices - even replaces guest checkouts with recognized customers and it will therefore help with things such as managing and tracking orders, purchase history detail, special discounts, instant access to shipping addresses and payment methods.

In recent news, Amazon has introduced the Mobile Associates API for Kindle Fire and other Android devices, enabling developers to merchandise physical and digital items from Amazon.com within their apps and games.
